On Friday, 06/19/2015, the team of X-LAM Alliance and B & K Structures, together with binderholz, received awards in two categories in England. In addition, B & K Structures was nominated in the category "Project of the Year" with its project BskyB Believe in Better Building, while XLam Alliance was nominated in the same category with its Banyan Wharf project.

B & K STRUCTURES - BskyB Believe in Better Building
BskyB´s new educational facility reflects the company´s sustainable aspirations. BIM technology and CNC machines were used to ensure the structures were manufactured to exacting tolerances to guarantee the details of the connections were precise. Architects and engineers worked together in a shared office - allowing them to make real time decisions. BIM goes beyond the planning, design and construction phases to the whole life cycle analysis of the project and can provide the end user with information from conceptual ideas and building design to cost control and construction management. BIM has changed the dynamic of the construction business, enhancing efficiencies, delivering well-coordinated and well-designed projects.

Award 2: "Innovation Award"
X-LAM ALLIANCE - Cross Laminated Timber (CLT)
B & K Structures together with their Austrian partner, binderholz formed the X-LAM Alliance back in 2011, bringing to the UK construction market a seamless and consistent way to supply CLT. The X-LAM Alliance team are taking CLT to new height with their most recent pioneering project - Banyan Wharf. This 10 storey Regal Homes development, situated within the London borough of Hackney, is set to take the title of the tallest CLT residential building in Europe. Banyan Wharf will be one of the most important residential buildings in London, providing 50 one, two and three bedroom apartments - all sold off plan, prior to completion.
