General Building Approval (aBG) Z-9.1-935 for binderholz CLT BBS

We have been granted the General Building Approval (aBG) Z-9.1-935 by the DiBT for our binderholz CLT BBS. This new aBG regulates the suitability and usability of load-bearing and room-separating binderholz CLT BBS elements in the event of fire.

The CLT BBS component structures – in visible quality or with fire-protective cladding – which have been tested and classified by binderholz over the past two decades and have thus been long-proven, are fully covered by this new aBG. Furthermore, all wall, roof, and ceiling structures included in the binderholz Solid Timber Manual and the binderholz online database are legally compliant for use under building regulations via this new aBG.

The design of CLT BBS elements in the event of fire is regulated in detail within the aBG. The corresponding dimensioning of CLT BBS elements according to the aBG is performed according to the latest state of the art, based on the charring model of Eurocode 5 (FprEN1995-1-2).

For the verification of room integrity for wall, ceiling, and roof components for fire resistance periods of 30, 60, and 90 minutes, clear and user-friendly tables are provided in the General Building Approval (aBG) Z-9.1-935.
