Sustainability is particularly important to the founders of the hotel and they wanted to show this clearly as well. As the construction of buildings in solid timber is not only environmentally friendly and fast, but additionally promotes the well-being and health of the guests, wood presented the ideal construction material for the hotel.

Overall 13 million euro was invested for the complete construction and it was clearly worth it! The hotel is fancy, easy-going and foremost one thing – natural. The green exterior invigorates the natural wooden façade even more. All in all, 1,050 m³ solid timber in the form of binderholz BBS 125 ceiling and BBS XL walls. The owners planned the hotel jointly with the architects of W2 Manufaktur. The only parts of the building that are not made of solid timber but of concrete are the underground garage, the staircases and the cellar. Otherwise, the entire “Werdenfelserei” consists completely of binderholz BBS cross-laminated timber, most of which in visible surface quality. The wood optics is therefore not only presented on the outside of the hotel but also everywhere on the inside you can marvel at the natural raw material: starting from the cosy “Wurzelwerk” restaurant to the rooms and suits, and even the spa on the roof.

The ground floor accommodates the reception desk, lounge, restaurant and a library. The rooms are subdivided for comfort while they are still open in all directions. To emphasise modernity more, glass was chosen as the second important building element. All rooms and suits have their own balconies or terraces that can be accessed through glass doors. The top suite with 60 m² living space additionally has a whirlpool to offer on the roof terrace of equal size.

On three storeys, the building accommodates overall 43 studios with a size of 28 to 34 m² respectively and eight suites with 58 to 90 m² living space. All rooms and suites are built with Swiss stone pine wood, which tantalises with its characteristic scent. Two of the eight suites are truly exclusive and include absolute high-end equipment. Each of them has two bedrooms, one open fireplace and a private sauna. The saunas are on the roof of the hotel and offer a spectacular 360° view of the Bavarian Alps and the Zugspitze. This is where you can also find the two-storey 1000 m² spa area, which is called the “Sky over Garmisch”. It moreover has four treatment rooms, one spa lounge with open fireplace, the pool terrace and the absolute highlight of the hotel: the rooftop pool where you can swim your laps while having a breath-taking direct view of the Zugspitze.
