Karvag Elementary School, Averoy | Norway
The Karvag Elementary School in Averoy, Norway, is a modern multi-purpose building for education, sports, and culture. The sustainable and future-oriented new building with energy- and cost-efficient solutions is a great asset for both the students and the community. With the exception of two small steel beams, all supporting structures are made of solid wood. In addition to the full structural design and plannings work, our b_project team also carried out the prefabrication and delivery of all solid wood components as well as the associated fasteners and connectors.

The use of solid wood products, other environmentally friendly materials, solar collectors and solar cells ensures that the new building complies with passive house standards.
Virtually all load-bearing structures are made of solid wood
The total construction period was 24 months, with the timber construction completed after just 6 months. Almost all load-bearing structures are made of binderholz CLT BBS and binderholz glulam. Thermally treated spruce wood was used in part for the exterior cladding, but composite facade panels were also used. The roof is made of glulam with foil sealing. Lots of visible solid wood and the use of light and bright colors create a pleasant feeling of space.
